My friend and I had planned to take a trip to Niagara Falls for quite some time. As neither of us had been there before we were quite excited to go. We planned five magnificent days there. We traveled to Niagara Falls by train and when we arrived the weather was very cold, rainy and windy. This put a real damper on our plans, but we were not going to let it get in the way of us having a good time! Because we had to change up our pre-planned itinerary, we did basically everything on the fly.
We had heard from friends who’d been in the past that the Maid of the Mist is the bee’s knees of Niagara Falls attractions. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we were unable to go on the Maid of the Mist. Most of the activities we did were indoor attractions. One of these was the IMAX movie, which we both enjoyed very much! We were especially interested in the historical aspects of the film and were happy to learn some background regarding Niagara Falls.
After the IMAX we went to the Daredevil Gallery, which was quite interesting as well. It was really neat to see the actual barrels and other items used by the daredevils in their attempts to go over the falls. I would stare at one of them and think to myself “For all the money in the world, would I attempt to go over the falls in that?” It really blows your mind! Due to the rain we went to Madam Tussauds Wax Museum, which was a blast! It was really funny to see the different celebrities in their wax forms. We took pictures with our favorite celebs and really enjoyed ourselves!
The Ripley’s Believe it or Not was also another great rainy day destination. We enjoyed the time we spent there as well. During the rain, when we weren’t going to attractions, we frequented the restaurants, candy stores, shops, and casinos in the area as well.
The day we left we got lucky and the rain stopped! We were able to do the Journey Behind the Falls, which was wonderful! We went through the different tunnels and onto the different decks. The weather was nice and we got to really take in the beauty of the falls. We snapped a ton of photos and hope that when we return the weather will stay how it was that day.
The most memorable part of the trip for us was the Madam Tussauds Wax Museum. The two of us just had a really good time and we laughed, took photos and really enjoyed ourselves. Even with the poor weather, the trip still exceeded our expectations. We learned that even with bad weather there is still plenty to do at Niagara Falls.
