Christopher Nolan returns to IMAX film for Dark Knight Rises

You can call us traditionalists but the IMAX film format is by far the best format to see a movie. Of course, we are prejudiced since The Niagara Falls Movie is shown hourly at the theatre in full IMAX film glory.

IMAX Technology

IMAX Film still rules supreme for a movie experience

IMAX has gone through a lot of changes recently.  Two of the biggest to the technology has been IMAX 3D and the advent of IMAX digital. Both technologies have greatly expanded the IMAX Theatre network and brought exciting new Hollywood films to many more viewers than what would have been possible without these advances. As recent as a few years ago, talk was all about how theatres needed to upgrade or suffer the consequences of reduced attendance.  But something interesting has happened.  It’s pretty safe to say that the traditional IMAX format is now back in vogue. An example of this is the upcoming release of The Dark Knight Rises.  Famed Director Christopher Nolan has gone on record to say the best way to see the film is to seek out a traditional IMAX Theatre and prepare for something special.

A few select quotes from Christopher Nolan:

“The sharpness and the depth of the image, projected onto those enormous screens, is simply the best quality image that has ever been invented.”

“Having shot almost half the picture with large-format IMAX film cameras, it is very important to me that we show ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in the IMAX film format wherever possible. Audiences everywhere should be assured that every presentation of the film will be of the highest standard-having benefited from the clarity and depth IMAX cameras offer. However, these IMAX screens will showcase the original IMAX film photography in its optimum form, and I hope anyone who has an opportunity to experience the film in these IMAX theatres will seek it out.”

Mr. Nolan’s beliefs are shared with some of the biggest director of our time.  James Cameron, Brad Bird (Mission Impossible 4), J.J. Abrams and Michael Bay have all gone on record extolling the virtues of traditional IMAX 2D film.

Niagara Falls on the giant IMAX screen is still the way to get an amazing film experience and learn about the history and the Niagara daredevils that challenged the Falls.  If you don’t believe us, ask Christopher Nolan!

Please note: We will not be playing The Dark Knight Rises now or any time in the near future.  Our focus is on educating and entertaining visitors to Niagara Falls.
