News | No tightrope walk for Nik Wallenda

Well, it looks like we won’t have a new daredevil to add to the gallery. Nik Wallenda request for permission to tightrope 1,800 feet across Niagara Falls from the U.S. to Canadian side has been denied.

The stunt had been approved by New York legislators and Gov. Andrew Cuomo but Wallenda also needed the support of the Niagara Falls Park Commission.  The commission said the proposal would undermine it’s long-term objectives, set a precedent for similar requests, and possibly encourage other people to put their lives at risk.

Wallenda is researching a walk between Goat Island and Niagara Falls State Park as it falls on the U.S. side.
